Connecting traditional food pathways, with 21st century spirit. Cedar Hot Sauce is our vehicle for transporting our ideas of modern sustainable food systems, from harvesters and seed keepers straight to your palate.
Chef and Founder Jacob Hetsler, (Anishinaabe) raised on adopted farms. Has combined his skills with working in the Food Industry for 20 years. Starting as a dishwasher at age 16, always having a hand in many types of cuisine. Finally resting in the Old Port of Montréal for 10 years putting the finishing touches on his skills working alongside Turtle Island's
top culinary artists.
Taking a decade honing the individual techniques of Italian, French, Japanese cuisines. Cedar Hot Sauce is the combination of Indigenous plant medicines of Turtle Island, incorporating them in a way that hasn't been seen before. After becoming a Chef, and deciding to take an approach of our ancestors by way of the trail instead of a brick and mortar establishment. Cedar Hot Sauce is able to hit the road and bring our collected harvests to make the full circle in person.
From our collaborations with local sustainable agriculture programs, passionate multi-generational pepper breeders and traditional knowledge keeping harvesters. We can take our harvest personally from the fields, to the kitchen, straight to the bottle.
Directly from our hands to yours.
